The Greek Alphabet consists of 24 letters, a good many of which are identical with the corresponding letters of the Latin alphabet which we still employ. Both alphabets were derived from the Phoenician alphabet, from which the Hebrew alphabet also took its origin. The letters given in the second column are now used only as capital letters in printed Greek books, but originally letters like these were used in all Greek writing.
